Post-doctoral position – The intrinsic shape of the nucleus

Post-doctoral position, August 2018

A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Dr. 3234120613, at IFOM, Milan (Italy), from September 2018 or later.

Paolo Maiuri Lab

The project aims to explore the basic mechanisms linking cell and nuclear shape.
While the nuclei of most cells tend to be either round or oval, various diseases are associated with alterations in the shape of the cell nucleus. An abnormal nuclear shape and size is systematically associated with cancer (Zink et al. 2004). Moreover, mutations in genes encoding lamins, one of the major structural components of the nucleoskeleton, are leading to a variety of disorders, including muscular dystrophy, dilated cardiomyopathy and progeria, and show cells with characteristic perturbations of the nuclear shape (Davidson & Lammerding 2014).

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and independent scientist, holding a PhD degree in Biophysics or related Biological Sciences, interested in joining our team.

Please send a motivation letter together with a CV and email addresses of 2 referees to Paolo Maiuri (paolo.maiuri[@]ifom.eu).
